On 5 September 2026, Washitsu Inc. officially released the language learning app "GogaQ" on the App Store.
After a proof-of-concept phase and TestFlight beta, AI conversation, writing correction, news reading, listening, a sentence book, and flashcards now live in a single app.
The app is free to download. Every account gets 20 points of AI usage per month at no cost, with paid plans from ¥980/month for those who want to practise more.
Update (October 2026): every screen in the app has been redesigned. Since launch, the number of languages you can learn has grown to 10, and any native/target pair is available except the same language on both sides (72 pairs). The sentence book, wordbook, and phrases of the day are read aloud by AI voices, and AI-generated drills let you start as soon as the first question is ready.
Instead of working through a fixed textbook, AI creates your conversation partner, writing prompts, news articles, and drills on the spot from the theme, level, and interests you choose. Drills start as soon as the first question is ready.

Name a topic and AI writes a reading article at your level, with explanations for key vocabulary.
Dictation, gist listening, and shadowing. Each attempt is scored out of 100, with the full script available.
Example sentences each packed with key words, idioms, and structures — about 2,000 per language (3,230 for Japanese), graded by CEFR for English, HSK for Chinese, JLPT (N5–N1) for Japanese, and TOPIK for Korean. Every sentence is read aloud by an AI voice. Learn with cards, check yourself with composition quizzes, and use bookmarks, custom lists, and resume.
For every language you can learn, the wordbook shows usage, synonyms, antonyms, and derived forms for each word, with AI-voiced pronunciation. AI-generated drills come in four types — vocabulary, idioms, structures, and grammar — and you can start as soon as the first question is ready. Vocabulary drills cover TOEFL / IELTS, JLPT, HSK, TOPIK, DELE, DELF, and Goethe.
Expressions you save during practice become flashcards. See how many are due today, organised by target language.
Home shows today's practice, your streak, weekly progress, and a phrase of the day — 30 per language, explained in your native language and read aloud by an AI voice — so you can pick up right where you left off.

AI-powered practice (conversation, correction, article generation, etc.) uses points per session. Points are granted monthly by plan, and you can change plans at any time.
